UK Coast Guide
The UKCoastGuide website is a new site that has been developed to provide an
online guide to the fascinating area which is the UK coastline. The guide covers
the whole of the UK coast and is organised on a regional basis - see map and links
below. The guide provides details of each resort and town along the coast,
with details of beaches, natural features, attractions and hotels, guest houses
and cottages.
This
is an ongoing project and new material is being developed all of the time. At
present all of the main resorts within each region are included in the Guide and
small resorts and villages are included under the heading of the main resorts. This is due to time
pressures and because of the lack of readily available material in some areas. It is
hoped that all coastal resorts and settlements, whatever their size, will get
their own page at some time in the near future. If you would like to suggest a new area or to submit
material, you are very welcome - please follow the link on the Contacts page.
UK Coastal Regions map
Guide section
The main part
of the site contains details of coastal towns and villages, beaches and coastline,
natural and manmade features, such as piers and harbours and wildlife and natural habitats.
As there is a great deal to our coastline this will be developed on a regional
basis starting with the South West. Over time it is intended to make the
UKCoastGuide a comprehensive source of information about this fascinating area.
Coast and Beach guide
There are hundreds
of beaches situated within the UK coastline - with a great variety of features,
facilities and conditions available to the public - to find your ideal beach whether it is a secluded
cove or wide flat sandy beach, go to the resort section for detailed information.
Habitats and wildlife guide
Our
coastline has an amazing variety of habitats within its length, ranging from
picturesque coves and windswept headlands to busy ports and derelict industrial
areas. It is our intention to provide details of all of these areas, as they all
add to the rich heritage that makes up our coastline.
