Essex Coast Essex lies on the east coast of Britain, to the north and east of London. It has a fairly long coastline with some major river estuaries along it - notably the River Crouch, River Blackwater and the River Stour. Much of the coastal area is low lying with extensive mud banks and wetland areas. The main seaside resorts in the county are Southend, Burnham and Clacton, the port of Harwich is also a resort in part. Due to its location near London, the Essex coast is poplar with citizens from the capital who flock to the beaches and attractions of Southend and Clacton. Clacton-on-Sea - includes Frinton and Brighlingsea
