Sidmouth is a small seaside town located in east Devon with a population of around 13,000. The town itself nestles between towering red sandstone cliffs at the bottom of the Sid valley. Sidmouth has a superb architectural heritage with several hundred listed buildings and an especially impressive range of Regency residences. The town, and in particular its wonderfully unspoilt Esplanade, is regularly used by television and film companies for period reconstruction. Just along the coast is Seaton, a small resort town and its near neighbour Beer, which is an unspoilt fishing village. To the west of Sidmouth is Budleigh Salterton, a small but perfectly formed seaside village with a wonderful long beach and excellent coastal views.
