Suffolk Coast Suffolk is situated on the east coast of the UK with a coastline over looking the North Sea. Essex lies to the south and Norfolk to the north of the county. The administrative centre is Ipswich and the county has a population of around 730,000. The county is mostly low lying and the coast is subject to flooding and erosion from storms in the North Sea. Coastal defences are in evidence in many places on the coast and continue to be added as needed. Felixstowe is the busiest container port in the UK but it also has a resort side to it as well. There are two other popular seaside resorts in Suffolk, these are Lowestoft and Aldeburgh. Lowestoft is part of The Sunshine Coast and claims to be the most easterly point in Britain, it has a good sandy beach. Aldeburgh is more of a village and has a quieter atmosphere with a large shingle beach.
Aldeburgh includes Southwold
